Description

This easy-to-use app creates a personalized seed planting calendar based on frost dates in your garden. It originated on Skippy’s Vegetable Garden blog and has been tested and used world-wide by over 50,000 agricultural students and home gardeners. Skippy’s Vegetable Garden is an award winning blog: awarded Best Garden Blog by Horticultural Magazine and currently the # 1 “Vegetable Gardening Blog” on Google search. If you plant seeds, this app will help you. It can be hard to get planting time from a seed packet. You have to count backwards using the days to maturity number and your frost dates to figure out the calendar date. With several seed packets, this gets confusing. Skippy's App solves this. Skippy's App is designed for gardeners all over the world. It is effective anywhere with four seasons, a cool winter, and an average first and last frost date. Through research and our own experience, we've collected data for the optimum planting times for over 100 vegetables. The app does the work of creating a a year round planting calendar, including spring, fall, and winter planting. It lists sowing, transplanting, and succession planting dates. The app is easy-to-use and practical. It’s advertisement-free. No in-app purchases. No silly distracting graphics. And it’s actively supported by gardeners with regular updates. If you have a question or suggestion, you can visit skippysgarden.com and email us. How does it work? Select the season and the crops you want to grow. Add your garden’s frost date. The app will create a calendar for your chosen crops. You can view your planting tasks by the week or scroll through the entire season. Once set up, the app opens to display the current week with your current planting tasks. If planting season hasn't started yet, it will show your first task coming up. Give it a try. We're sure that Skippy's App will simplify your seed sowing. I purchased this yesterday but I am unable to open it. It will open to a front page but it is all white. It gives me 3 useless choices at the bottom of the page. I am trying to get my money back. Totally useless app, don’t get this app!
  • Plan to re-enter your frost dates repeatedly!

Great App, but it’s getting frustrating to have to re-enter my frost dates. Going on 6 times now. Resets itself repeatedly.

This is a great app. Keeps you up to date and has ready to hand information about all the vegetables in the garden. You won’t be disappointed. A companion Apple Watch app would be great. Hats off to the developer. Get it and tell your gardening pals!

I wish this would be incorporated with a garden journal to set reminders I can set myself to remember to fertilize specific plants at specific times. I haven’t found a great journal app to use along with this information.
  • Plz fix this.....

The data entered into the app goes away when the app is closed. Having to reenter my garden every time I need to use the app makes it useless. Please fix this, or explain how to correct it.
  • Looses personal settings

Decent idea but the last few updates always loose all personal settings (frost dates, vegetable selections etc) every time I close the app. Makes it useless.
  • Won't store dates

While a great app, the last few versions do not store the frost dates when you shut down. Makes it a pain to reenter them each time you use the app.

Simplicity of this app is perfect. Less time with my phone, more time in the garden. It includes marigolds, sunflowers, nasturtiums. I'd like to see borage and sweet peas added. Thank you!

Simple, clean, easy. All the vegetables, all the dates co-related and synced automatically to my region. Weekly task list and reminders for indoor start dates, transplant dates, direct sow, and consecutive plantings for spring, fall, winter. Also contacted Kathy about some ideas and amendments... Heard back immediately. Cottage industry app. Love it!
  • Great App!

I used this last year for my spring, fall and winter planting plan. Very straightforward and easy to use. The app designer also listens to suggestions and makes changes quickly to meet the needs of gardeners. Highly recommend this app.
