The powerful combination of award-winning apps and a proven method—YNAB’s Four Rules—has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people by teaching them to get control of their finances, stop stressing, and live the life they want to live. A Proven Method—YNAB’s Four Rules Rule One: Give Every Dollar A Job | Be intentional about what you want your money to do before you spend it. Rule Two: Embrace Your True Expenses | Break up larger, less frequent expenses into smaller, manageable amounts. By saving monthly for insurance premiums, holidays, or car repairs, when the time comes, your money is ready and waiting to do its job. Rule Three: Roll With The Punches | When life changes, so must your budget. Make adjustments and move along. Flexible budgets succeed because they’re guilt-free, realistic, and sustainable. Rule Four: Age Your Money | As you repeat the first three rules, you’ll increase the time between earning a dollar and the moment you need to spend it. • Goes blank when setting a goal

I need to pay off a credit card but whenever I go to set a goal the entire screen goes white and I have to delete and reinstall the app. I’m on an iPhone with the latest IOS. I only downloaded the app 2 days ago so I’m giving a 3 because I still need to get used to it.

I heard about YNAB via a brief mention in a YouTube and gave it a try on the website. I did everything wrong to start but with a dozen live webinars everyday I was quickly on-track. The web app is just as easy to use as the website. I used Mint for 3 years and never knew where my money was going and my financial picture was a mess. After 3 months on YNAB, I’m giving every dollar a job and am no longer using credit cards!

Greatest piece of personal finance software on the planet. Allows me to manage money with a forward looking perspective versus a backward looking perspective. Don’t know what I would do without this software. I do have some gripes, but overall a definite Home screen worthy app.

I’ve never been very interested in keeping track of funds to this degree, but this app makes it fun and challenging (in a good way) at the same time. I highly recommend giving this a try. It’s made a difference for us!
  • Changed My Life

I have been using this for 5 months and it changed my life. My excel budget was too complicated (Especially because I earn and spend money in 2 countries), so did not consistently use it. This app is like having lots of bank accounts organized to my needs, all on one screen. I have paid more student loan debt off in the last few months than I thought possible because I feel comfortable making larger payments knowing I have sinking funds, an emergency fund, and am using this month's paycheck for next month. I am motivated not to buy, because at the end of the month I transfer all the leftovers in each category (even if it's 15 cents left over for gas money) to make one extra loan payment. It adds up. This money used to disappear before YNAB. Having an app track what I spend is also making me realize I need to put more money aside for things like teaching supplies and birthday present so those don't become emergencies. That being said, it was a learning process and I am constantly changing how I use it. However, I find this good bc it keeps me motivated to pay off these loans!

I have been using the app on my iphone, iPad, and MAC for over a year. This is an awesome system that keeps getting better each month. The customer service has been great with quick replies and quick resolutions. I was looking for a replacement for Quicken on my Mac after having been a faithful user since the 90’s. They went downhill fast and I found this app and I just love it. I like the philosophy that goes with it and has really helped our budgeting, much improved over Quicken. Not perfect, but getting there.

I used the free trial and found somethings about the app to be quite frustrating and redundant. I unsubscribed and was billed for the year when I unsubscribed before the trial period ending. PLEASE REFUND MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

Before even having a chance to play with the app and see if i liked it, a pop up jumped on at the same time Apple Pay popped up. As I was trying to get out of the pop up I pushed on the home button and was charged $83.00. Expect a refund!!!!
  • Lacks key features. And the new numeric keypad is AWFUL!

A few pet peeves: 1) The lack of a running balance makes planning payments into the future impossible in the app, even on my laptop. This means I have had to design a separate spreadsheet to do this. Ironically, the original version of YNAB was built on a spreadsheet. 2) The latest app update (April 16, 2018) added calculators everywhere, but did so at the expense of having a useable numeric keypad (it’s now way too small, unnecessarily so), making quick entry of the amount spent on the go unnecessarily clumsy. What on earth were you thinking? 3) After 2 plus years of development, useable reports should be available, both on the mobile app, and on the browser based “desktop” app. Considering YNAB is now a subscription service, I *expect* ongoing development AND RESULTS. 4) Speaking of “4”, YNAB4 is still a better product. I’m running them in parallel. If the SAAS version was good enough (see above pet peeves) I could happily move forward with it.

I love the software and have been using for a long time now. Previously, I rated this app 2 stars as there had been no updates in months and basic functionalities like Search didn’t exist on mobile. Search STILL does not exist. Why?!?! I find it such a waste of time digging out previous transactions for various budgeting reasons and find myself doing it often. This should be a feature out of the box. Bumping this to 3 stars until Seach is added.
